Separate Waste Collection 2021

An art object made from recycled plastic has appeared in Perekrestok

An art object made of recycled plastic with a total length of more than 62 meters has appeared in the flagship supermarket of the Perekrestok retail chain. A mosaic panel called «Shopping cart's Dream» was created for the retail chain as part of the #REbirth eco-project under the supervision of the Museum of Russian Impressionism and with the support of the Sobirator and EcoTechnology companies.

To create the panel, about 4 tons of waste collected in the chain's supermarkets were sorted. The work used 15 colors, for each of which the material was specially selected. More than 340 kg of recyclable materials were used in the work - packaging from goods, trays for ready-made food, children's toys and much more. Perekrestok pays a great deal of attention to recycling, therefore, the panels used recyclable materials collected in the chain's supermarkets.

The panel at the junction of genres was invented and created by the creative studio «Eraser» under the direction of the artist Alexei Platonov, known for his large-scale plastic works. The pop art plot combines many images and patterns typical for retail - fruits and vegetables, a variety of food and mouths that bite it, cutlery, shopping bags and even a trolley.

The art object was implemented by Perekrestok within the framework of a large eco-project of the retail chain #REbirth, the purpose of which is to prove and show by its own example that plastic can be reused and reborn into beautiful and durable objects.
